I first got a pixie cut when I was 15 and it was a horrible experience. I wanted to look like Audrey Hepburn and shocker, getting a (bad) pixie cut did not turn me into her. I started growing it out almost immediately and I swore off pixie cuts for life.
Five years ago I got the itch to try a pixie again. I knew I needed to approach it with caution and make sure I really wanted it. I waited at least a year, and when I still wanted it, I took the plunge. I've kept it ever since and I have zero regrets. Perhaps I was predestined for a pixie cut all along?? It just needed to be at the right time.
BONUS BENEFITS OF A PIXIE: Incredibly easy to style, no more obnoxious long hair sensory issues, and you can give a nice F-U to the male gaze/societal expectations.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you work with an excellent stylist who knows their pixie cuts! They will make or break your experience! I go to Freyja Salon in Chicago.
